
The All-Ireland Poc Fada takes place this Saturday on Annaverna Mountain, Cooley Peninsula, Co Louth. Connacht will be represented by Defending champion Gerry Fallon (Roscommon), James Skehill (Galway) and Donal O Brien (Mayo) Our Representative in the Camogie competition will be Stephanie Gannon (Athenry, Galway) while Owen Treacy (Galway) will be our representative in the U 16 competition. 2010 M Donnelly Poc Fada Ard Stiúrthóir Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Páraic Ó Dufaigh officially launched the M Donnelly Poc Fada na hÉireann 2010 in Croke Park ahead of this Saturday's (July 31) return to Annaverna Mountain, Ravensdale for the prestigious event. Defending champion Gerry Fallon faces stiff competition from the reigning provincial Poc Fada champions Ruairí Convery (Ulster/Derry), Eoin Reilly (Leinster/Laois), Séamus Coffey (Munster/Cork) and James Skehill (Connacht/Galway). Kilkenny All Ireland winning goalkeeper James McGarry, Tipperary's All Ireland winner Eoin Kelly and Down's Graham Clarke will also participate in this year's Poc Fada event, which will be played out over a challenging mountain 5km course. The Camogie and Under 16 Competitions start at 12.30pm with the senior Poc Fada commencing at 1pm Connacht will be well represented with Owen Treacy, (Portumna, Galway), competing at U16 level, and Stephanie Gannon, (Athenry, Galway) competing for the Camogie title. Gerry Fallon, (Oran Roscommon) who is the 2009 Champion, will have other connacht representatives aiming to capture his crown. Donall O Brien, (Ballyhaunis, Mayo), who is making his debut at the event, as well as James Skehill, (Cappataggle, Galway) who has previous experience on the course will all have ambitions to emulate Gerry Fallons success in 2009.
